Why we replaced Plated with INVO

Dr. Rocco C. Piazza

Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

“Plated served our patients well. But when I compared them side by side, INVO gave us three exosome sources instead of one, twice the serum, and vitamin C and peptides built in. When something better comes along, I owe it to my patients to make the switch.”

Learn more about Dr. Piazza →
  • Stable oil-soluble vitamin C, gentler than L-ascorbic acid
  • Exosomes with growth factors and a peptide complex
  • Calms the look of redness
  • Light enough to restart on day 2 after a procedure
  • Fragrance-free
Why we carry this

Most vitamin C serums are too aggressive for skin that has just been treated. This one is light enough that we clear patients to restart it on day two.

The full story

INVO exosome serum, stocked by Dr. Piazza.

INVO Rejuvenating Complex by INVO Aesthetics puts 1.2+ trillion exosomes, vitamin C and peptides in one 30 mL serum, morning and night. It's the exosome serum Dr. Piazza recommends, and the one he stocks in place of Plated INTENSE.

What's in the bottle

  • 1.2+ trillion exosomes from three cell sources: fibroblast, umbilical cord and bone marrow
  • 1,200+ growth factors, proteins and peptides
  • Vitamin C and a peptide complex, so you don't need separate serums for either
  • BioBlend Technology™
  • 30 mL, twice the size of most exosome serums

Figures above are INVO Aesthetics' own, as published by the manufacturer.

INVO vs Plated INTENSE

  • Three exosome sources (fibroblast, umbilical cord and bone marrow) instead of one
  • 30 mL instead of 15 mL: about $9.50 per mL vs about $17
  • Vitamin C and a peptide complex built in, so you don't need separate serums for either

What it does

  • Visibly smooths the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a radiant complexion
  • Contains antioxidants that help defend the look of skin against environmental stressors
  • Helps calm and soothe the skin, reducing the appearance of redness
  • Supports the look of firmer, more even-toned skin over time

Switching from Plated INTENSE

Finish the bottle you have, then move straight to INVO. There is no gap needed between the two.

Before and after treatment

Gentle enough for post-procedure skin. After microneedling, it's one of the best times to apply it. After a laser treatment, start once your provider clears you, and follow their timing.

How to use

Apply a few drops to clean, dry skin on the face and neck, morning and night, before your moisturizer. In the morning, follow with sunscreen. If you use a retinoid, apply the serum first. Give it eight weeks of twice-daily use.

Questions, answered

Is this replacing Plated INTENSE, and what do I do with the bottle I have?

Yes — INVO Rejuvenating Complex is the exosome serum we now stock in place of Plated INTENSE. Finish the bottle you have; there is no reason to throw out a good product, and nothing about switching requires a gap. When you are running low, this is what we would put you on next. The short version of why: three exosome sources rather than one, thirty millilitres rather than fifteen, and vitamin C and peptides already in the formula.

Where does this sit in my routine, and is it safe after a procedure?

Clean, dry skin, morning and night, before your moisturizer. In the morning, finish with sunscreen. If you use a retinoid, this goes on first. After microneedling it is one of the better times to apply it; after a laser treatment, start once your provider clears you and follow the timing they give you for your treatment depth. Give it eight weeks of twice-daily use before you judge it, and stay on it if you like what you see.

Why is this $285 when other exosome serums cost less?

Worth being straight about the math. At thirty millilitres this works out around $9.50 per millilitre; a fifteen-millilitre bottle at $258 is closer to $17. So the bottle price is higher and the cost of using it is meaningfully lower. It also carries vitamin C and a peptide complex, which for most people removes two other bottles from the shelf. What it is not is a more concentrated serum — per millilitre, some single-source serums are denser. You are buying sources, volume and the fewer steps.

Is it made from human cells?

Partly, and it is a fair thing to ask. There are no living cells in the bottle. Cells are grown in a laboratory, and what those cells release into the fluid around them is collected — the messengers, not the cells themselves. The sources are fibroblast, umbilical cord and bone marrow. If that is not something you are comfortable with, say so and we will walk you through a non-human option instead; that is a reasonable preference and not one we will argue you out of.

How long before I see anything?

Eight weeks, used twice a day. That is the honest answer and it is the commitment the product asks for. Most people notice the skin reflecting light more evenly before they notice anything about fine lines. Be clear-eyed about the ceiling too: a serum supports the look and feel of the skin, and it is not a substitute for a procedure. Deep folds, loose skin and volume loss are a different conversation, and we would rather have it with you than sell you a bottle instead.

What an exosome actually is.

Tiny packets cells release to talk to each other. They carry proteins and growth factors, not cells.

INVO's come from three lab-grown sources: fibroblast, umbilical cord and bone marrow. Nothing living goes in the bottle.
