Collection: Exosomes vs Peptides vs Growth Factors — What Each One Actually Does

Exosomes, peptides and growth factors get sold as if they were rivals. They are not — they do different jobs, and the reason most routines stall is picking the wrong one for the problem. Here is the plain version, and what we actually stock.

Peptides — the instruction

Short chains of amino acids. Think of them as a single message: make more collagen, or relax this muscle. They are small, stable, well studied, and the most predictable of the three.

Choose peptides if you want a dependable daily active with a long safety record and you are not chasing a dramatic result. They are also the gentlest option for reactive skin.

Growth factors — the workforce

Larger proteins that signal cells to proliferate and rebuild. More biologically active than a peptide, and correspondingly harder to formulate and keep stable.

Choose growth factors if your concern is laxity and thinning rather than surface texture, and you are prepared to use something consistently for months rather than weeks.

Exosomes — the delivery vehicle

Here is the distinction almost nobody draws. An exosome is not an active ingredient. It is a vesicle — a carrier — and what matters is the signalling cargo inside it and whether that cargo reaches anything.

Which leads to the honest caveat: nearly every positive human study on exosomes delivered them through a channel — microneedling, fractional laser — rather than onto intact skin. That is a procedure. An at-home exosome serum is best understood as maintenance between visits, and anyone telling you a bottle equals an in-office protocol is selling you something.

Choose exosomes if you are already having in-office treatments and want the between-visits layer. How we think about exosomes →

So which one?

If you are choosing one and only one, start with the category that matches your actual concern rather than the one with the newest science. Surface texture and fine lines → peptides or a retinoid. Laxity and thinning → growth factors. Post-procedure and maintenance between treatments → exosomes.

They stack fine. There is no interaction problem — the limit is your patience and your budget, not chemistry.

And none of them substitutes for sunscreen. If your routine has a gap, it is almost certainly there, and no serum in this collection will outrun daily UV exposure.

What we will not claim

There are no FDA-approved exosome products for cosmetic use, and mechanisms across all three categories are described here as proposed rather than established. These are cosmetics. They are not intended to treat any condition, and we will tell you where the evidence is thin rather than paper over it.

These products are cosmetics intended to support the appearance of the skin. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Individual results vary.
